The ARL's task is to provide knowledge-based analysis and advice on current issues of sustainable spatial development. Complex societal challenges require integrative and thus inter- and transdisciplinary perspectives. The ARL's specific mode of operation - transdisciplinary and network-based - enables close cooperation and comprehensive exchange between science and practice.
