We age with every hour, minute and second. Ageing thus affects everyone and poses major challenges to society, as ageing brings with it an increased burden of disease. For society, the expected economic burden of rising healthcare costs associated with ageing is immense. The Cluster of Excellence CECAD at the University of Cologne is researching the causes that both underlie ageing and trigger a broad spectrum of age-associated diseases.
